Thanks, everyone. I might have to make the trip down to Micro Center Tuesday or Wednesday and check it out.

Ok, I have 2 laptops here that you or anyone else are welcome to (you get first dibs if you want one).

First is a Toshiba A205-S5804 model PSAF3U-0NR00V - I think we upgraded the RAM but I can't be sure.

Second is a HP G60-549DX - May also have upgraded RAM

Theses are both in perfect condition and little used. Both are officially licensed MS sticker worn on the HP. There should be a recover procedure to bring them back to default.

The only problem is I can't find the power supplies to either so if someone on here has some supplies you can test them both out.

All I ask is that the be restored to factory default in my presence, i know you could always recover something but I doubt there is much important info on either and I trust you.

If Ray isn't interested these are both free to anyone, I'm sure someone here has a computer parts company. Either reformat the HD in my presence or leave it with me... or shoot it... I'm not all that paranoid.

On a side note, anyone interested in some 2500 series Cisco routers?

I appreciate the offer. That's pretty awesome of you.

I'll pass on them at this time. Like I posted earlier in this thread, I actually have two laptops that are still functional should this one crap out on me.

    Thanks.

I second microcenter. I hate to talk money. But when you are shopping for such stuff, it helps to know what your max that you can afford is. I say max because for me I usually buy the absolute best that I can and then use it for a few years. I find that if you buy the cheapest thing at the time, you replace it faster and the long term cost is just as much as buying a good one.

I would also suggest you buy a laptop with a MSATA port. Perhaps one of the guys at microcenter will know what that is. But most of the time I know more than they do. I think they play dumb for liability reasons. But an MSATA port is a internal port for a small solid state drive. Your hard drive is usually the bottle neck for most day to day things. Having a solid state drive is night and day better. The reason I purchased my Lenovo Y470 was because all of them have an MSATA port. Pretty much almost all the Lenovos do. The other name for an MSATA drive is a "jump drive or cache drive". They can be used as either a monster cache drive for your regular hard drive (cheaper 32gig MSATA will work) or you can pony up for a 256GB and run the whole operating system on that and then have your regular hard drive for PORN...er... anyways.

Second word of advice, all the computers on GREAT INSANE BLACK FRIDAY DEALS.... usually SUCK. They are crappy computers for people that don't know a hard drive from a hole in their head. Don't buy the 200 door buster ever.

Also if you can wait, I would always suggest you just buy it direct from the manufacturer. WAY better specs and cheaper than the store. I am drooling over getting the new y400 from Lenovo.

No problem, I hope someone has a business that can use these. I'd hate to just smash them and throw them away.

Lenovo Tseries are usually great computers. Business people including police depts use them because they are rugged.

Lenovo Y series... best bang for the buck for a gaming entertainment laptop. I have a Y470 and want the new Y400. Only gripe is that the body case is weak. But I travel with it almost everyday so I abuse it.

Also make sure you get the in house waranty stuff. Well worth it. They send a tech to you and he fixes it should it need it.

No they are a waste of money most of the time.

Also determine if you want decent performance or mega battery life. The two rarely meetup.

And on the networking front, if someone has a business I have a lot of Cisco 2500's as well as cables and everything else. I paid over $20K about 10 years ago (yes I understand they're not worth that much now). If someone can benefit it's all free.
