See, I didn't think of that reason, dammit I just can't win. Pretty is good though and you like them and that is what counts in the end. Perhaps it is the same with the gentleman i saw this afternoon, except I don't know anyone who can see their ear lobes. Outside of a mirror anyway, maybe he's really vain.

Anytime someone talks about gauging, I bring up my 73 year old dad. Hey you want to be cool like him, do it. I would love to invest in a tattoo removal and earlobe shrinking business. If you got in early you could have franchises all over. Like tanning salons.

It appears to me that some people are oversensitive to once-common terminology. I find the over-sensitivity to be a form of political correctness (speechwise). I personally despise political correctness in any form.

You mean like screening every man, woman and child at airport security so that nobody gets their feelings hurt by being singled out for screening?

Wonderful example of course. At the airport- we need to PROFILE. I don't like it when someone implies that I can't use a term or a certain word because it -might- offend someone. The n-word is a perfectly understandable example of an offensive term.
Retard? Come-on, I think we've all said it. We all know what we mean by it and it has nothing to do with the "mentally challenged".

Right or wrong, I often find myself using the word "'tard" in close company and I had a Mentally Retarded uncle when I was growing up. Cool dude unless he was drunk, then that fucker got mean.
    My Feedback
Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.
Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.
Credit roberth: List of things Government does best; 1. Steal your money 2. Steal your time 3. Waste the money they stole from you. 4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."

Actually, I think we use it as a direct reference to someone who is "mentally challenged".
