    Default Steel Target Help

I have a few AT Evil Roy portable targets, and yesterday a jackass decided to pop one with a 5.56 at 25 yards, leaving a considerable gouge in my plate. Plate is made of 500 steel. Is there a way to repair the damage? Should I still shoot the plate since the surface is no longer smooth? Any help would be appreciated.

Shoot away. Some inconsiderate bastages (yes board member you know who you are) not only shoot the shit out of my 500 plates with 8mm & .06 they also are either crappy shots or ??? because they always hit the hangers!!!!!!!!!!!
Up side it is @ 3-400 yds.

It's AR500 don't worry. You could shoot at the other side if it bothers you.

No way to repair them. Mine all look like the surface of the moon.

Be careful depending on what the edges of the gouge looks like some fragments can ricochet quite far.

Im not educated on this stuff at all, but maybe be wise to cut any of the material that has sheared outwards from the plate surface. That way it'd be flat except for the crater.

You cant effectively repair Evil Roy Targets. Unless there is a really deep chingo in there, press on. If the dent is deep and might cause a bit of splashback, Tig weld it.

At that point, you should only using pistol ammo on them. It will create a soft spot, but for handgun rounds, you should be fine.
