Default suggestions on a new carry gun?

i have been going with a smith 340PD and have decided that i dont shoot it very well. every time i practice with it i end up with a hurt trigger finger. so i dont practice nearly enough. i'm am thinking about a glock 19 i shot a 26 and dont really like my pinky finger just floating around. i am looking to stick with 9mm as cheaper ammo will have me shooting the gun a lot more and staying in practice. i have hands on the smaller side so not looking at stuff with huge grips. my price range is up to $1500 or more for a great gun. i dont mind spending money on something my life may depend on one day. i would like a good trigger but dont mind taking it in for a little tunning if need be. i also am looking for something that does not have to be cocked and locked. something that i dont have to worry about a saftey.

anyone have some suggestions on some i should take a look at? i would also like to hear why you suggest them. thanks a bunch.

G19, because they work. Spend the rest on training and ammo.

I carry a G19, love it. Trust my life to it. I carry Speer Gold Dot 124rg. +P ammo so it's more than up to the task of some of the larger calibers. Great capacity, concealable, reliable. I also have a S&W 642 snubby that i'll throw in my pocket for quick runs out and about, both are good pieces.

PS: I bought the GD's in bulk so if you want to snatch up a few boxes let me know. No way i'm going to shoot all this premium carry ammo.

I would recommend looking at an M&P.

I carry a p2000sk and don't have anything bad to say about it. I like it.

    Thumbs up

I usually carry an XD45 compact. Recently I started carrying a Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro. A little smaller and easier to conceal during business. I love both, the Xd is bomb proof not to big not to small. The Millenium Pro is a sweet little handgun, conceals nice and is quite accurate for a shorty. I carry either in the same holster, homemade IWB/Tuckable, took the idea from Crossbreed Supertuck holsters. I would bet my life on either of of these handguns, Ive got a lot of rounds through each without a glitch.

I found the XD45 a bit large for most carry. I used to carry a XD9 standard, then went to a Kahr PM9. But recently I carry a Kahr PM45. Big punch for a very small package. It is small enough to be a pocket pistol. It just makes it easy to carry with about anything and any season, and still be a 45.

Another couple of options are the Glock G30 if you really want Glock.. and the Taurus PT145. Both are reliable and accurate compact .45's with a 10+1 capacity. Honestly, the only thing that I'm not absolutely pleased about with my PT145 is the sights. That's resolvable though. I carry it both IWB and OWB and have little to no issue with it printing or being in the way.

Rock Island Armory Compact 1911, I love mine! .45 cal., $340 from Sarco. Same thing as Colt Officer's ACP.

I've put thin grips and a different magazine on it.

mine is the exact same set up as Karl's. it's a pain to shoot. it's in the shop right now getting a trigger job to try and smooth things out a bit. after chating with Karl a bit today i think more than half the problem is me flinching abit. when it come back out of the shop i'm going to try shooting with something protecting my finger where it is getting me. i really think im just picking up a bad habit from it brusing my finger.

i picked up a glock 19 to wear in the meen time and oh do i miss the smith. i shoot it well not as good as my 34 or 17 but not too far off either. this thing prints on me big time and feels like it weighs a ton. not once in the last two days have i forgot i am wearing a gun. for the time being i hope it stays cool because with out my flannel you could pick up on me wearing it while driving by at 60mph. i feel a lot better knowing i can shoot it 10x better but am not sure if the price i'm paying is totally worth it.

i am carring it in a blanchi leather pancake holster same style as the one i have worn for years with my smith. for those of you carring larger guns what kind of rigs are you wearing to keep them concealed well.
