Took a class where the guy used a doritos bag for a sucking chest wound. Like most things, the software between your ears is more important than the hardware.

He was just using the foil from the bag. The point was knowing what the right way looks like and being able to improvise if it's not available. The context of the class was wilderness first aid and getting back to civilization. The person has to survive the wound first, worry about infection later. The instructor was simply looking around the room to find something he could use in an emergency. Doritos bag was what he picked.
