Reloading newbie

I'm considering getting into reloading and don't know much. I was thinking how cool would it be if there was a member that reloads right in my neighborhood. Well you'll never know if you don't ask! Does anybody live on the west side of town Applewood area that reloads it wouldn't mind showing me what's involved an the needed equipment vs the nice to have when the funds are available kind of stuff. I can bring beers and would be open to learning. Thanks

Not in your area, but the first thing you need to do is pick up a copy of "The A,B,C's of reloading and read it cover to cover. Then you know if you really want to commit to reloading.
Then do Internet searches for reloading mishaps so you can see how serious and detail oriented you need to be when reloading.

Yup!! and separate the beer from the gunpowder...it makes the powder soggy and hard to light up!!

As my uncle told me years ago when I was curious, read this book(an old lyman reloading manual) cover to cover. Then, read it again. Then after a few more times, if you still are interested, look into buying stuff. Its very important to be very anal about details in reloading. As long as you follow all safety rules, and allow no, zero, zilch distractions, its a safe hobby. All it will do however, is cause you to shoot more often, and more ammo,lol.

I hear that, I got into reloading to save money and now I just shoot a hell of a lot more and wonder where the money is going. But I guess that is still winning.

Serious note, just realize before you get into reloading that it is awesome, but you are literally making a device that could kill you or whoever is shooting your reloads. If you approach each and every round like that you will be fine, kinda along the same lines as always treat a firearm as if it were loaded. Always treat reloading as one mistake could ruin your life in the same way, there is no room for error. I think that it is a good idea to have someone show you the ropes, although it is always a learning experience. Take it slow and there is no level of meticulous deliberation that is too much when it comes to making your own ammunition.
