+1 to visiting the Arizona Memorial at Pearl. I mentioned the anniversary yesterday and few had thought about it. Out of sight, out of mind. So sad. My wife's grandfather is a P.H. survivor and lives down in Salida. I cherish every moment I get to spend with him. Last year there was a parade in the Springs he attended with other WWII vets. Only 4 were able to attend.
I was stationed in Hawaii with the Army and been down to Pearl Harbor several times. Both of my grandfathers were stationed at Pearl Harbor the day of the attack. Neither one would talk about it. When I was younger I built models of several of the ships that were sunk that day and placed them in glass display cases then donated them to my local Americal Legion hall.
As I was walking around the New Embassy Complex here in Baghdad today, a friend of mine who was in the Marines asked why the flag was at half staff. I said, dude its december 7th. It took him a minute to figure it out. Sad day.
On this date in 2004 my mother passed away. This is a day that will live in infamy for many reasons.
