Default Guns across state lines (dead horse, I know)

I know this has been gone over in the past, but I can't seem to find that nice website with the gun laws for different states (haven't looked too hard, admittedly). Anybody know what website has the info I'm looking for?
I'm in CO, leaving as soon as the weigh station opens up tomorrow. Driving a Uhaul here to NC, then flying back for Xmas leave.
I'll be passing through Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky for sure, and depending on the route I'll either go south through Kentucky to Tennessee and then North Carolina, or I'll take the north route through West Virginia and Virginia (south is an hour longer, north has tolls).
I'm going to have a handgun in the cab with me, and an 18.5" 12ga if its legal in the states I'll be passing through. The rest will be in the back.

KS. If no CCW permit, handgun must be in plain sight. On the dash. With permit, good to go with anywhere you want to keep it. But be careful when CCWing, they have legal "No firearms allowed" signs at places that don't want weapons in their businesses. And violation can carry fines and or jail time.

Tennessee doesn't seem so bad. They have full reciprocity for CCW. 'No Guns' signs do have the force of law, which kind of sucks. Also, when I worked in Murfreesboro, they have a local ordinance that forbids firing center-fire rifles on Sundays. The local ranges all have big signs with copies of the law, and patrol the lanes pretty diligently to make sure nobody shoots a center-fire rifle, as the range apparently gets fined if someone rats them out.

Illinois pretty much universally sucks for guns.
Math is tough. Let's go shopping!
