Power went out about ten minutes ago. Xcell says they have power out for 4,300 people and eta is for it to come back up at 10:30. Glad I spent $10 for two lanterns and a bottle of lamp oil a few years ago. At least it's 18 degrees out tonight. Heh

Think about some prepper heating methods for the future. I've got propane and kerosene heaters in case of winter outages. Lowe's has some good clearances in February.

Well, fortunately we can still turn on our gas fireplace if we need, and pitch a tent next to it as well. Going to turn the internet off my phone to save batteries now. Night guys.

For winter I do like having Aladdin lamps. Clean burning and about 2500BTU each. Some info. http://www.ar-15.co/threads/19976-Th...ighting-thread
I have posted this before but years ago we lost power for the night. when it went out it was like 22 outside and 68 inside. After 4 hours it got to like 18 and was up to 72 in the living room with 2 lamps. I like LED's for the summer but for light AND heat Aladdin's are hard to beat.
I see you running, tell me what your running from
Nobody's coming, what ya do that was so wrong.
Good luck, only 7 degrees out here. Very important to have back up heat, even if power out for short time.

We have these dotting the yard, No batteries and no worries as needed. They seem to be the same specs from different vendors. The ones we picked up were from ACE.

6500w generator as back up and fortunately gas heat, hot water and stove. Even with the Plan B power back up, the water faucets are set to drip, hopefully avoid a burst pipe.

Well, power came on at 9:43. Looks like this was a short lived adventure. We were just getting ready to ride it out for the night.
Jerry, I was actually thinking about that same thread as I was creating this one.

The power was off at my inlaws when I dropped them off after bowling. Jeez it was dark in their neighborhood. Not the best neighborhood either. The power came back on as soon I dropped them off.
Gotta keep flashlights handy with batteries. LEDs that will last hours/days.
Also get a small generator with a suicide cord for a space heater and fridge
