Question about Aimpoint Comp M2...

When the rotary switch is all the way CCW, is the led actually OFF or just so dim you can no longer see it?

Also the top turret marking says UP...does this mean it moves the led up or the POI up? The instructions aren't real clear.

Just received it from the $349 sale from PSA. Was surprised to see it included the rubber strap and Killflash as well as the mount.

Not sure about whether it is off or not? The first several clicks are for NV so not really sure if it's actually off or not?

Here is some info on the adjustments....

Each click of the adjustment screw (4) corresponds to a 10 mm
movement of the point of impact at 80 meters, (3 mm at 25 meters, 13 mm at
100 meters and 25 mm at 200 meters or 1/4” at 50 yds, 1/2” at 100 yds and
1” at 200 yds).

• To move the point of impact to the right, turn windage adjustment screw counter clockwise (clockwise if screw located on left side).
• To move the point of impact to the left, turn windage adjustment screw clockwise (counter clockwise if screw located on left side).
• To move the point of impact up, turn elevation adjustment screw counter clockwise.
• To move the point of impact down, turn elevation adjustment screw clockwise.


On a side note, how long did it take PSA to get it to you? I've had a order in process for over 2 weeks and I'm about ready to call an cancel with them.

I have a Comp M2. The manual says that the switch has "10 positions: 4 NVD, 6 daylight of which 1 is extra bright." So no "off" unlike the Comp ML2.

OK, you shamed me into it and you're right. ;->

I finally dug out my metering stuff from many moons ago, inserted an ammeter in series with the battery.

The far CCW position, even on the 50 micro amp scale barely wiggles the meter's needle at .54 micro amps. (I had to use my old Simpson 260 analog meter. My Fluke 77 digital meter would only indicate an oscillating "0" or "1" on a microamp scale.) In the full CW position the led pulls 7 milliamps with the mid positions readings in between.

So...the battery will probably croak due more to aging than usage if you store it in the CCW position.

Thanks. That last part is good to know. I didn't realize it didn't go off until you made me read the manual yesterday. We both learned something!

I usually have another battery in my bag, but the battery life on these things are ridiculously long, so I am probably being a little overly cautious. I normally leave it about in the middle brightness and go up or down depending on the outside light when I am ready to shoot.

I carry a couple spares in the grip of the grooved Israel Fab AG-43 pistol grip.
Yeah, 7 or 8 is a good standby position to start from in the daylight.
The first three positions are a waste. Damn little change in current draw too.

In the 7 position they reference the battery life of the M2 to 10,000 hours. In the NV settings 1 through 4 the battery life is 100,000 hours. If it gets knocked to the "Extra Bright" you can suck a battery down pretty fast if the gun is in storage or in a ready location for a few months.
