I think bryjcom hit the nail on the head...the republican establishment was insane to think that Romney was the best shot. This country craved a STRONG conservative candidate...and the best the GOP could come up with was Romney?
Reality unfotunately is we have a 2 party system. Sort of. From what Ive seen, its a lot more 1 party than anything. Example, use Maes. R said they would get behind who ever won primary. They obviously never thought Maes would win But he did. Tancredo was thrown out as an option before it came down to McInnis/Maes. Vote went to Maes.

Now look at the fact that Tancredo then changed parties, signed up for a fringe party, and campaigned his a$$ off, not against Hickenlooper, but against Maes! Then also realize that MANY other R in the state told R's to vote for Tancredo! AND on top of that, you have to understand Maes never received a penny from the R party in his whole campaign! So R party lied they would get behind, never did. Then look how many jumped in to support Tancredo, who had already lost to McInnis! And on top of that, Tancredo hasnt won anything in how long? That childish bs, made it real obvious to me that the R party would rather have a D elected than an outsider.

And yes, the R party is still idiots by trying to get Romney elected, he didnt have a chance, never did. But someone who would actually help this country would screw up more of the buddy/buddy bs deals than obonzo would, so run a 1/2 a$$ race, obonzo gets the ticket, and R party still keeps getting more $ than if they had pulled with someone else, someone not so party line. It has nothing to do with principals, has everything to do with funding a party, and as long as they money keeps coming in, why or how doesnt matter.

NO Blame it on Party over person. Dan Meas was/is a con man. The Hard Core R's backed him and other shit heads like Coors over more popular (across the R spectrum) and even the blue dog D's like Bob Scheaffer. Tancredo was hard line Immigration and the moderate R's stuck with Meas even though (until the nov debacle) most R's are Immigration conscious.
I voted person (Tancredo) over party Maes because i could not vote Maes at all.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while... I thought when a 3 parties ran, you were supposed to blame the party with the smallest percentage of the vote for the others failures??

    Huh?

Tancredo lost the R primary. By law, Republicans (because of how many voted republican in the previous election) automatically had a spot on the ballot for their candidate.

If you are simply saying not a single Republican should have run for governor, all because they didn't vote for Tancredo in the primary? That makes even less sense. Of course they'll run the candidate that won the primary.

    This day and age...

I'd say they have a lot on their plate if they'd throw out an AWB...

... correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the spike on all these firearms, ammo, survival prep gear sales give'em the idea that signing up for an AWB would trigger some type of civil backlash? Or do you think they'd just say f*ck the 25 plus million law abiding firearm owners?

Please forgive me for my ignorance. I was in the islands and unaware of the AWB back then....

I'm not trying to encourage shit... just thinking out loud here....

Yeah I voted for Romney for the sole reason that Obunghole is such a dick head. I kinda regret it now, knowing that I sold out my principles and over rode my gut feeling, all for nothing.

IMHO, the reason we have another 4 LOOOOOONG years with O is because stupid ass conservatives can't get their heads out of their asses and stop nominating these total dweebs. The last 2 elections we nominated McCain and Romney??? Are you freaking serious?

Hey i voted for the hot chick. Or as i sometimes say I voted with my Dick. Romney was a better choice than O, better than GJ, just because i'm not sold on him. Oddly enough my uncle, MR Hardcore Conservative told me in sept. Romney would loose, when asked why? He said R wasn't Conservative enough.
Give me a person who i feel good about and they have my vote. GJ wasn't that guy. I felt R would bring back some things we have lost, like decreasing entitlement programs, actually standing up to a foreign country and using the word Terrorist when addressing an attack. .
