Statements like this one always are surprising to me. Surprising in the way that the only way you can make a statement like that is if you truly believe in the two party system...that it actually is the best way to go about things in the political arena. I think bryjcom hit the nail on the head...the republican establishment was insane to think that Romney was the best shot. This country craved a STRONG conservative candidate...and the best the GOP could come up with was Romney?

Don't you find it kinda "funny" that we have had one of the most conservative uprisings in modern history and we nominate one of the most progressive "conservatives" in the field?

Coinkey dink or fraud? Hmmmm.... What does your gut say?

If by strong conservative you mean strong support of personal liberties, I agree that might have worked. The Republican establishment cannot tolerate such a candidate.

Which is exactly why the two party system always ends up like the situation we have today. If the republicans want to be the moderate progressive party that is just fine by me. But don't package a progressive as a conservative just because he has an R after his name.

Truth is this is not the result of some misguided Repubblican vote.
Truth is we are a country of suckers that still believe the politicians are there to do our best interest.
We are a country that was shocked that Bill Clinton lied to the nation whene he finally managed to get is dick sucked by something vaguely resembling a human being.
"He lied to us under oath!" DUH! He's a fucking politician!
This is the result of generations of people being thaught that they should feel guilty about slavery.
So now, like the menopausal cow that lives next door to me, they wanted to "give a black guy a chance".
Well, bend over if you want to give him a chance, see how well it works.
Oh, wait, we all bent over.
We bent over when we allowed our kids being taught that we ought to be ashamed of having had slaves 300 years ago.
Well, guess what, slavery has been practiced since the beginning of time, by ALL races.
You lose a war, you become a slave.
You get colonized, you become a slave.
You have no unity in you country, someone will come and make you his slave, one by one.
After the slave emancipation in the US the whole country of Liberia weas given to black ex-slaves to give them a homeland.
What is the first thing they did?
    They got their own slaves!
Look it up if you don't believe me.
But this is conveniently not being taught in our school: all is being taught is that white people made black people their slaves and we shall forever feel guilty about it.
The Democrats used Obama and our guilt trips to get back in power.
Yeah, give a black man a chance: that worked out well...
And, Mods, don't give me the whole racist bullshit:I am not talking anbout a race being better than another.
    I am talking facts.
    Rant over.

I'm so glad SOMEONE ELSE understands the nature of politicians.

Reality unfotunately is we have a 2 party system. Sort of. From what Ive seen, its a lot more 1 party than anything. Example, use Maes. R said they would get behind who ever won primary. They obviously never thought Maes would win But he did. Tancredo was thrown out as an option before it came down to McInnis/Maes. Vote went to Maes.

Now look at the fact that Tancredo then changed parties, signed up for a fringe party, and campaigned his a$$ off, not against Hickenlooper, but against Maes! Then also realize that MANY other R in the state told R's to vote for Tancredo! AND on top of that, you have to understand Maes never received a penny from the R party in his whole campaign! So R party lied they would get behind, never did. Then look how many jumped in to support Tancredo, who had already lost to McInnis! And on top of that, Tancredo hasnt won anything in how long? That childish bs, made it real obvious to me that the R party would rather have a D elected than an outsider.

And yes, the R party is still idiots by trying to get Romney elected, he didnt have a chance, never did. But someone who would actually help this country would screw up more of the buddy/buddy bs deals than obonzo would, so run a 1/2 a$$ race, obonzo gets the ticket, and R party still keeps getting more $ than if they had pulled with someone else, someone not so party line. It has nothing to do with principals, has everything to do with funding a party, and as long as they money keeps coming in, why or how doesnt matter.
