I am not a video game guy, dont bother with them in general. HOWEVER those blaming games for things are frankly taking a silly left wing stance on this. Blaming things and not people is why we are left to fight for something we should never have to, our god given right to defend ourselves by whatever means necessary affirmed for us by our founding fathers.

I have to wonder what the rampant over medication of our kids is doing. Adderal, ritalin, antidepressants... all being prescribed like M&Ms to children that are still developing their brains. Add to this a rampant failure of parents to instill any sort of moral compass, and you end up with sociopaths that have little in the way of impulse control.

ignorance. Ever found a liberal that you can have a discussion with?

Now this is a problem, one many lazy parents and teachers don't want to talk about, and much more likely to have a hand in events like this.

I've played Man Hunt, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Black, Assassins Creed, Call of Duty and all those games back in the day. Funny, I never once thought about or did any of the following: raping anyone, killing anyone or smashing anyone to see what they look like inside, wondered what it was like to eat someone ect ect. Blaming video games, music, guns for anything is retarded. I blame Justin Bieber!

I agree with this to a degree. While 99% of people are unaffected by violence in video games or movies (I play Call of Duty, etc.) there is a small group of people, the other 1%, who see and play these games and begin to exercise the ideas within their minds. Eventually these thoughts become actions. I'm not suggesting that video games are the only reason, nor that they be banned because of a small minority. It's a combination of several factors. But to think that the prevalence of violence in society plays no role in these atrocious acts is silly. Simply because you dont feel video games affects you does not mean the other 7 billion people in the world are the same way.

I believe it's a sort of "perfect storm" of violence in the media, increased stress in individuals lives, and the faccination that the media puts on these killers in todays society. Young, depressed individuals see this as a way to become famous and escape their current problems.

Wow. I think 3wo1f just partly made my point. How can any young man play hours of that and not have it affect his train of thought?

    I have:
22 Hours in Medal of Honor Warfighter
    278.5 Hours in Battlefield 3
Several hundred hours in Battlefield 2
Probably close to 1000 hours in BF1942
Around 1100 hours in Call of Duty games
    ~50 hours in Counter Strike
107 hours in Grand Theft Auto
    96 hours in Mass Effect
103 hours in Team Fortress 2
    17 hours in Borderlands

I've probably killed enough characters to wipe this planet clean of life.

And yet I've never had an issue discerning reality from video games. Many of the hours listed are approximations as the games were not tracking my time.

That's a little over 3000 hours of games where I shoot people in the face.

Crazy and evil people are going to find motivation for crazy and evil acts in places where healthy minded folk find none. We don't come down on these things just because of a few broken minds.

Hell, Mark David Chapman said The Catcher In The Rye in part motivated the murder of John Lenin.

Charles Manson claimed he got his orders to kill people from The Beatles Helter Skelter.

Hinckley cited Taxi Driver as a motivation to shoot Reagan (I wonder how disappointed he was to find out Jody Foster was gay?)

I completely agree. There is no cure-all to madness. My only point was to say that there is a small group within the population that is indeed affected by violence. To deny that is foolish. There are some here that say "well it doesn't affect me so it shouldn't affect anyone else."
