Hearing about this was truly a mindnumbing and motivation-draining way to wake up. My prayers go out to the families who lost children or loved ones, to the students who will forever be scarred by this event, and to everyone else who is affected one way or another.

It is truly sickening to see this type of event happen so frequently. I believe that stricter gun laws will not help the situation, as criminals will always be criminals, but if there was a way to prevent this (mandatory CCW), I would be all for it.

I used to carry my CCW only when it was convenient, or when I would be out of my house all day. No more. I will be carrying 24/7 now (because simply having a pistol out in the house may not be enough if someone kicks in the front door and grabs me), even at home. And yes, I will be carrying while sleeping. I will be urging my fiancee to get her CCL and may even gift her the class for Christmas (or a crudely photoshopped coupon for the class date of her choosing). Then, the second part of that gift will be a CCW of her choosing, and the proper ammo for it. I found out recently both of my Uncles have their CCWs, my mom just got hers a few months ago (and carries everywhere), and I'm trying to convince my sister to get hers as well (she even gets discounts on guns being a Paramedic Firefighter).

Back to the point at hand though, I am interested, like others, to hear what the President will consider as "taking meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this". And as others have said, I wish I had the cash to go out and stock up on more ammo and guns right now, but I don't.

eta: I too am 27 and am often appalled at how people my age (in their 20's) act. I have always been very mature for my age, and was raised with proper values. Acting out in violence was NEVER allowed and dealt with extremely harshly. While I don't have any kids right now (we plan to have our first within 2-3yrs), I have seen how many people my age deal with their parenting, and they are simply too immature to be put in that role and it's disheartening. I fear for the future of America because children are no longer being raised with the ideals, values and morals to keep people acting kindly towards another human being.
