Default Changing the name of what we call our rifle platform

This will be a little bit of a rant, but it all honesty I am serious. We all have "AR" platform rifles. I would say almost all of us only use them only for target shooting and maybe some varmints all configured in .223/5.56. The select few have some other caliber for hunting larger game. All by different brands, some with gas some with piston. Why don't we stop calling them AR's and call them MSR's, Modern Sporting Rifles, which is what they are after all. So much negativity and inaccuracy surrounds the name of an AR-15, some even think AR stands for Assault Rifle. I think a shift in the name by industry leaders could have a very beneficial impact.

Before the boating accident, my weapons were called "rifle" and "carbine", and sometimes when they acted up, bastard, motherfucker, and sometimes even POS. That was all before the tragic boating accident after a three hour tour..

    Armalite
    Rifle

The Styer AUG clone is the MSAR.

We can call them whatever benign, politically correct name you want to hang on them.
    They won't care.

I am also talking the names manufacturers give them. Ruger calls their an SR-556. I'm not sure what that stands for, Sport Rifle?

I also just told my wife about my idea after posting this, she too thought AR was for assault rifle

I would have to look, but I believe the AR stands for Automatic Rifle. CAR stood for Colt Automatic Rifle, yada yada.

I didn't know what AR stood for so I just call mine Aaron's Reaper.
