Default I need current statistics about gun violence, etc

For obvious reasons I've been having many conversations about gun control recently. I consider myself fairly informed about gun laws, stats, and theories but most of what I find on the Internet is dated from the 90's or early 2000's... Does anyone have some good, recent stats about gun control or the need to have more protection that I can use in some of these conversations? I was thinking the CDC and DOJ might have some good info. Thanks.

I was talking to a lady that said she'd like to see how many crimes are prevented using guns vs. how many people are killed with guns. I think her exact words were "how many criminals are killed by citizens with guns vs. how many innocents are killed" is it worth it

So she is going to want confirmed stories where nothing happened?

You can look them up on google....... No matter what you say to some people, you will never get through. Just learn to nod and smile. Only try on those that are smart enough to have an intelligent conversation. After you google firearm death statistics, google motor vehicle statistics. Then blunt object, knife, ect.

    Here's a few:
    CDC: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/injury.htm

If you make something idiot proof, someone will make a better idiot... Forget youth, what we need is a fountain of smart. There are no stupid questions, just a lot of inquisitive idiots.
