Not sure when these went into effect. (Apologies. in advance,if it has already been posted)
I'm reporting based on what I found today for Adams County Sheriff's Office (ACSO)

    See http://apps.adcogov.org/Sheriff/chp_main.html for details.

    1) Hours of Operation

NO CHP services will be available on Mondays
Tuesday -[thru] Friday[-] business hours are now 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Applications for new and renewal concealed handgun permits will only be accepted on

    THURSDAY from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Applications will no longer be accepted on Fridays.
    2) Picture/Prints
We [Adams Country Sheriff's Office] are now taking the permit photo [and fingerprints] and signature at the beginning of the application process, and unless other arrangements are requested, we will be mailing permits to the applicants.

Until this change completely works its way through the system,
new and renewed permits will be personally distributed on

    3) Receipt of Permit
ACSO is converting to a mail option for distribution for new and renewed permits.

Sounds pretty much the same as it has been for a while with the exception of mailing the permit back; I went back and picked mine up.

Also they would like you to call before you come in for renewals, This is incase you have to supply any other documents (Cert, Id, etc) they will tell you what to bring in instead of you going in to just be sent back home. I'm going in tomorrow to renew mine and that is what they told me.

I'm going next week to Adams Co. to submit my application for my CHP. The website now says:

"Due to an increase in application volume, NEW concealed handgun permit applications are limited to 20 applications on each intake day. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. As always, applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis."

Has anybody here gone in lately to submit their application for their first permit? If so, are the lines long? I'm wondering if Tuesday or Thursday would be best, and if I should arrive several hours early and sit in line I can't take every Tuesday and Thursday off until I get to be one of the first 20 applicants so am trying to plan well.

I need to renew mine in about 6 months. Hopefully the frenzy dies down by then.

Just talking to my dad, he said he got there an hour early, and couldn't get in. He said they hand out numbers 1-20 and that's it. He talked to the guy that got number 20 and that guy said he got there 2 1/2 hours early and barely got it.

Seems to me this should be illegal, they are limiting it to 40 people a week. How many people live in Adama county?
