Seems to me this should be illegal, they are limiting it to 40 people a week. How many people live in Adama county?
Wow...I thought getting there two hours early would work but I see I'm gonna have to really raise the bar. It's like Black Friday for CCW Wannabes

    Thanks for the head's up.

Honestly isn't this wrong what they are doing?

Where do we draw the line? Right now they have it limited to 40 people per week. What if they limited it to 20 per week? What about 10? 5? 1? None?

I follow, but I'd gladly take that. Denver is 4 months out for an appointment.

It does seem wrong. No limit is a good limit but why did they settle on 20? Is that all they can process in an 8 hour work day? Seems to me like their wheels turn a little slow.

BTW, RCCrawler, I like your alias. I'm an RC nut and just built my first two crawlers (still finishing them up actually). Crawlers and carbines make for the best camping fun

Jmetz - if I could make an appointment, I'd prefer that to having to run to the County building twice a week every week until I manage to be one of the first 20 in line. Still.....a four month wait does truly suck so I sympathize.

The reason they settle on 20 is because of the 90 day limit to get your background done. There's only 4 people that do all of the CCW applicants.

There was another change today (for the better!). I walked in at 08:01 this morning and there were already a dozen people in front of me. Instead of making us wait until noon and then hand out numbers based on the "honor system", they assigned you a # in the order you got there and we were told we could leave and come back at noon. The woman also said they are in the process of converting to be able to start the process online and accept CC's too. I'm not sure when the earliest person got there, but if you want to get a CCW I would plan on getting there VERY early.

I applied in early October 2012 just after Adams Co. started the 20 person limit. I got there at 8:15 and was number 16. Only waited about 60 minutes after submitting my paperwork...did my fingerprints and photo and I was out the door by 9:45. The young lady who took my prints and photo said the CBI was taking about 70 days...I received my permit (by mail) on day 75. I agree that the limit of only two half-day submission times and 20 people per day is not right, however given the extremely high volume of applicants they have to control the flow (so to speak) in order to keep the system from being completely overwhelmed. Just think about the background check problem of a few weeks ago. And keep in mind, the process is still quicker than many other places in Colorado and in the nation...and at least we can obtain a CCW (or CHP in Adams Co) here...in some parts of the country there is no way for citizens to get one (CA, NY, IL).

I got there at 7:20AM today only to find that I was the 24th person there. No sense in waiting around in the friggin' cold for 40 minutes only to be turned away. I guess I'll either have to show up at 6:00AM or just wait until things die down a bit. That shit is insane!

Just so you know.... Your "40 minutes" was a bit off today.... They weren't accepting apps till noon.

My admin assistant went the other day, she got there at 4:30am and was the 10th person in line.
