A Pledge to Redirect the Conversation

I've heard a lot about what we are going to do to “solve” the problems our world is facing with recent events. How we conduct ourselves will go a long way in saving our society and what we enjoy as a hobby. I know we want to fight for our way of life by quoting facts and logic, but we will only be digging the hole deeper.

I pledge we don’t get in to heated arguments about gun control at work and with our family and friends, but instead redirect our efforts to the real problems: mental illness, parenting, the media sensationalizing these people. As we all know a weapon is only a weapon if someone makes it so. People and society are where we need to keep the topic of conversation focused.

No. Emphatically NO.

There is no way I'm going to limit myself with a pledge like that. I reserve the decision on the appropriate response to any given situation. I will pledge to keep my emotions in check and not get in a screaming match with someone that only understands and acts on emotions.

The only thing I like about my job is that I work with two like minded individuals who understand that banning a tool won't stop the job from getting done.

It amuses me to watch the antis become incensed when you simply smile, shake your head, and reply calmly and politely with FACT.

Sadly, the amusing part is that they don't get it and never will.

I will pledge with you.

I went out today to do a little shopping and to see if I could still get a deal on some 5.56. I shopped at Walmart, Target, the mall in Ft. Collins and at Sportsman's warehouse in Loveland. The people out shopping today are driving very aggressively and acting in a very rude manner and without politeness with little exception. Except at Sportsman's where everyone was polite, smiling, after you sir, thank you very much and Merry Christmas.

Makes me feel good to be a part of the "gun culture" and those of you on this forum that I have met in person only reinforce this feeling. Thank you all very much for being part of this.
