The owners are the key element into raising a good pitbull versus a bad pitbull. I have had 4 pits and all have been around little kids/infants and I think they are the best dogs in the world.

They are not a breed for the timid owners. The owners HAVE to be the Alpha or it will not go the way you want it. You have to be able to train a dog and to be assertive with them.

My current purebred pit is a baby. I raised him from day one to be the Beta and he knows it. The baby who is just over a year can beat the snot out of him if she wanted. He will not turn on her and he actually will get up and move because he knows he may get in trouble when I am around and she is crawling on him. She pinched his back hind leg/belly transition area, he has nipped at me for doing this...I would do this on purpose to get a reaction to correct, he looked at her and yelped and that was it. He is probably the greatest dog I have ever had. I can let him out in the front yard and he stays on the porch and if I tell him he goes in the grass and will not leave the perimeter. Training is the key with any so called vicious breed.

The one thing you have to realise about pitbulls, THEY ARE DOG AGGRESSIVE by nature and if you do not socialise them, you will have issues down the road. Mine is well socialized and have never had an issue with him or any of the other 3 I have owned.
