As opposed to those in jail sitting on their ass ,,playing ping pong,,and watching TV ?
Eating,housed on the tax payers dime?

Sheriff Joe's jail has no televisions and no recreational facilities, from what I've heard. He makes the inmates wear pink underwear, BILLS THEM for food it is illegal to serve at a school lunch program, and has webcams all over the facility. A lot of Arizonans seem to think he should be President due to the way he treats inmates. No job training, no integration counseling, no mental health or addiction treatment: just "welcome to scumbag TV . . . if you behave maybe we'll let you be on the chain gang."

I can tell you that they do have TV...only has educational programming. The underwear thing varies depending on the location. Tent City is where you are getting most of the reports you described for short timers. 90 days or so. I had a friend to through the system for a while. He said the guys looked forward to the chain gangs to get out on work release that they were paid for in return for credits inside.

Aww we have an inmate advocate on our hands. You know jails and prisons have plenty of volunteer programs if you are that passionate about it....

We get a fair amount of tagging up here and it makes me want to scream. It's usually not gang tagging, it's just idiots. Yeah, you are an "artist" and every blank space is just a canvas waiting for your genius to spring itself upon the world. Someday I will look upon your illegible scrawls and marvel, for I shall realize I never saw the world properly before that day. Don't worry, students only pay more than $10,000 a year to come here, let's just make sure we're stocked up on paint, pressure washers, etc. What's a few thousand more every semester?
