    Default Paint and holsters

    Hey folks,
Wasn't sure where to put this so move if needed. How does paint hold up when used with a holster? Say I wanted to get my slide of my pistol painted, but it spends a lot of time in and out of a holster, worth the trouble?

    thanks,
    Bear

I guess it would depend on the type of paint used.
I have a buddy who has his gunkoted and it holds up to the holster quite well.

Is "gunkote" the name brand of the stuff? I have a Glock 19 that I would like to get the slide done in an urban camo type set up... yeah, I'm an idiot.... Anyways, any resources on how to do, etc?

Thanks,... or should I forget all about this?....

    GunKote http://www.kgcoatings.com/

It holds up pretty well. Any sharp edges will naturally wear faster.

Cerakote is supposed to be even tougher but only use the KG stuff myself as it doesn't need mixing.

If you do it yourself just sandblast the slide, I use 70 grit AO at about 25-30psi, then degrease (soak it with non chlorinated carb or brake cleaner), spray, then bake at 350 for about a hour. It will make the kitchen stink though, might consider using a toaster oven outdoors.
