I've been saying that if Obama lets the fiscal cliff take a backseat to reactionary gun control, he's going to lose support very quickly. Most people see the fiscal cliff as steering the country away from the brink (which it very well might be) so if he loses focus on it, he's not doing his job.

Good point ... here in Colorado we're probably good and truly screwed.

We be fux0red. Unless we all start calling, writing, and making noise. Lots and lots and lots of noise. The only way out of this is to make sure the CO politicians know they will be out of a job if they even approach the issue.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

Do you think he has done his job up to this point???? He hasn't and it hasn't lost him any support. What makes you think this would be any different this time?

I fear they can make up more than 3 reasons to ban guns.

That's something I hadn't thought of yet... All this attention to guns and violence and innocent children dying at the hands of evil guns.... And the public has all but forgotten about the impending economic failure of our federal government!

Yup great distraction by the one. Circuses and Bread for the masses.

Local politics may be sticky. However, one thing that will make it difficult is people are buying, the expansion of concealed carry and the changing demographic: more women and girls. They may have the strongest influence with state reps.

Also on a national level I wonder what Dingy Harry will do, as endorsed by the NRA. May be not a thing, they will just have a conversation.
