Default Have you written your representatives?

So how many members have actually written their representatives, congressman, Senator or even the Evil O expressing your positions? Or are you just hoping everyone else will do it? I feel the lack of unified effort from the firearms community is what allows this kind of threat to happen. So are we fighting or just watching our rights go away? And yes, I have written my State and federal representatives.

I have, and even posted it here for others to use.

By email and snail mail (figured they might actually accidentally open and read those)

If you send letters to your congressmen and senators the letters are actually sent to another facility first to be irradiated for anthrax and other things before they make it to the senate offices themselves. This can sometimes take weeks. Email correspondence these days or even a phone call to the local office can be more effective.

Got a generic auto generated response from Udall.. and some spam email. Got a form letter from Bennett but at least it has my name on it and is about the topic so it seems that someone at least read it. Haven't heard back from anyone else. I will be sending out another round of letters again.

    Bennett:

    Dear Chad:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the tragedy of the Newtown shooting. I appreciate hearing from you.
The unthinkable events which took place in Newtown, Connecticut are staggering. Like all Colorado families, my family was shocked and deeply saddened by the violence, and my heart is with the victims, their families and the entire state of Connecticut. As Coloradans, we know how this type of tragedy can shake a community to its core and in the aftermath of these abhorrent acts our priority should be on supporting the survivors and families, and healing our communities.
We must have a real discussion in this country about finding ways to stop these types of senseless shootings. While no one law is likely to prevent a deranged individual committed to taking life from doing so, we should have a comprehensive and civil conversation about finding the right and most effective solutions to protect our communities and particularly, our children. This includes exploring a number of areas, such as mental health services, violence in our culture, and a review of our gun laws.
A Sandy Hook Support Fund has been established by the Newtown government to provide the victims and their families with support services during this difficult time. You can access it at http://www.newtown-ct.gov/Public_Documents/index. In addition, if you or a loved one is having difficulty coping with recent tragedies, including those of Aurora and Newtown, the Disaster Stress Helpline can be reached at 1-800-985-5990 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Let us all continue to keep the communities of Newtown and Aurora in our thoughts and prayers.

I value the input of fellow Coloradans in considering the wide variety of important issues and legislative initiatives that come before the Senate. I hope you will continue to inform me of your thoughts and concerns.
For more information about my priorities as a U.S. Senator, I invite you to visit my website at http://bennet.senate.gov/. Again, thank you for contacting me.

    Sincerely,

    Michael F. Bennet
    United States Senator

    Udall:

Thank you for your message to my U.S. Senate office. Each week, I receive over 10,000 letters from Coloradans with their thoughts and suggestions. Please know that we read each letter and email and will do our utmost to get you a timely response addressing your thoughts and concerns.

I am honored to serve as your U.S. Senator. My top priority in the Senate is to provide efficient and effective representation of people across our state. Please know that my Colorado staff is available to handle specific services relating to the federal government (such as help with a passport, claim for veterans’ benefits or a citizenship matter) and my Denver office can be reached at 303-650-7820. If you would like to check on a request for services from my Washington, D.C. office, please call 202-224-5941 or toll-free at 877-7-MUDALL (877-768-3255). I emailed my state senator and representative. In the case of Senator-elect Owen Hill, he emailed me back the next day, and even left his cell#. I need to email our congressmen, but at the same time, we need to shore up support here at home too.

I just renewed my NRA membership. I'll write something to a Congressman tomorrow.
