If nothing else, I guess this is a good reminder for all of us to replace our filters so our winter heating bills aren't unnecessarily high and we don't end up waking to a freezing cold house one morning.

Do you have central air conditioning? If so having a dirt filter can cause the coil to gt dirty causing issues as well.

Folks - PSA!!!! If you use a $5 filter or less and change it monthly, it will more than save you that on your utility bill.

30 days tops. UNLESS YOU HAVE PETS, or Rastafarians renting out. then sooner.

If you use cheap filters you can leave them in there longer because they filter less. They actually filter better when slightly dirty.

Jesus, I hope my wife doesn't read this! She's always on my ass to change the damned filter. Wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't so freakin' hard to get to it. Piss poor design, and then some knucklehead that used to live here had to "remodel" the basement and put doors in the way. It's a bitch to get to.

Damn i changed the filter once in 5 years in Las Vegas running the heat and A/C constantly in a dusty environment. My rental i lived in for 5 years in foco never had the filter changed. Now i have lived here less then a year and i did change the filter already. This is the first time a dirty filter has effected my heat haha.

You haven't got the landlord to fix that POS furnace yet ? Or should I say that POS landlord of yours hasn't fixed that furnace yet ? What is he waiting for, someone to get killed first ?
