Subsidize places of business, manufacturers and dealers money because they took away something that was legal one day and not legal the next. How can a government put out so many businesses without being responsible for the loss of income. A manufacturer that makes millions of dollars each year on their business should not be wrong by the government in my opinion. They have been doing something that has been completely legal for many many years and then all of a sudden the government says it's not legal anymore just doesn't sit well with me. Just would like to hear everyone's thoughts on this on a legal standpoint.

OP: What you're essentially asking is for the taxpayers to partially correct illegal government actions. The government illegally (through mere statute) violates a fundamental, Constitutionally guaranteed right, then 'pays' the monetarily damaged parties with stolen funds. It will certainly hurt the industrial base if we go to war and need weapons again. Look at the history of both world wars and the need to rapidly ramp up production. Maybe only senior military leaders understand. I would hate to be the "French Resistance" type of defender of the USA...
