Armageddon/Pro 2A random thoughts

In light that the world was suppose to end today in some form or fashion and failed miserably (I'll be waiting for a refund) AND the current 2A discussions, I had quite a few long talks with friends and family about firearms as it relates to both of these subjects.
While I may joke about the zombie apocalypse, I do somewhat worry about about societal collapse due to a wide variety of possibilities- global financial demise, disease (aka zombies), red dawn Chinese invasion, government totalitarian control, alien invasion (from space....or Mexico), godzilla and who knows what other possibilities are out there. As a non-hunter, that is my one of my primary reasons for owning what I own (or should I say "owned" since most of my stuff fell out of a boat), along with home protection, CCW etc etc.
If/when the SHTF, for what ever reason, there will be those who prepared and those who didn't. While I don't have a stockpile of food (although I wish I had the $$ to do so), I do think that people will end up banding together for mutual support and protection and the greatest factor for protection are those citizens who supply their own means.
As we have in our current society, we have those who take care of themselves and those who expect others to take care of them. When our society collapses (and all great societies do) the rules will change. Now here is how these two issues merged in recent conversation-will those who wanted to protect their 2A rights offer their protection to those who want to abolish that right? I know my feelings on the subject and I suspect I can guess most of your opinions.
So how do we know when the SHTF, who were the looters and who are the producers? This brought me to the wristband idea. You know, WWJD, yellow LIVESTRONG, pink I LOVE BOOBIES (who doesn't) wristbands. I can't image passing out a secret handshake to all 2A supporters BUT if we had a nice red white and blue "Pro 2A" wristband, it would be a nice way to know who your "friends" really are. Of course, I totally understand it is far from foolproof. When the rules go out the window, I won't be trusting that peace loving hippy vegan any more than the pant sagging, drug dealing thug down the street or the Hell's Angel Harley riding motorcycle gang banger. Any one of them could thump you over the head and get our 'secret' wristband. But like I said, a secret handshake won't be any better. Of course, I'm not a huge fan of these wristbands so I wouldn't be sporting it daily, but it would be in the safe, next to my AR for when the time comes. Those who felt it necessary to prepare could recognize each other, band together into a well regulated group of individuals to help each other make it through what ever calamity fell upon us when our government could not.
Of course as I think about it, instead of just red white and blue, why not throw a little yellow and black in there...something similar to:



I mean, if SHTF, I'm not making friends with those from Maine or something. We will all become much better friends and neighbors. Heck, I would be happy to pay a few bucks if it went to a good cause....say to protect our 2A rights or to keep a great resource up and running.

Anyway...just a random thought from a newbie here....

Don't be naive. There will be no "identifying" consistencies, just as there aren't with the sheep dogs in today's crowds. Nevertheless, I suspect that first impressions will speak volumes in a shtf scenario.

after watching the events of the last week play out and watching trading posts on multiple websites i think.....

just because someone ones a gun, doesnt make them your friend. SOME of these guys will sell you down the river for a buck. if SHTF they would have no problem taking what is yours.

Moral of the story. You had better be making a short list of people you can ACTUALLY trust with you life and your families lives. Not, just a bunch of internet buddies who have said they would stand with you.

The problem with a wristband is identifying it at a distance. Therefore, what is needed is an identifying hat that can't be mistaken for anything but the secret COAR-15 cabal. Here is one that should work well:
