When you take the time to think about it, do you honestly believe that someone who would shoot a child, on purpose, at close range, would be deterred by the slight possibility that a police officer might be around?
There is no deterring a crime of this level. You can defend against it, protect against it, or be a victim of it, but you can't really deter someone against it.

Yes. No one says YOU NEED TO OWN AND CARRY A GUN . Unlike the anti's who feel No One should Own a Gun. Some teachers are not ready or meant to handle / own guns. The ones who have an interest and would like training. Absolutely.
I was conversing with a teacher tonight. Guess what even being center left than full tilt wacko, she feels the need and has for some time. To be able to defend herself & students IF ever the scenario happened. She and other teachers feel it's beyond time f rthem to CCW in school.

All the active shooter incidents in schools that I'm aware of end with the killer commiting suicide. The killers are cowards and never confront the Police. The presence of the PO or Secuirty may not prevent the incident but certainly will help end it before massive loss of life.

Personally. When I was in lower level educations I never saw a cop. Move forward to highschool? The highschool I attended always had a police officer presence in it. It kept drugs down and I felt safe going to school there. Hell the cop would let us use the radar guns while waiting at the bus stop before I was able to drive. In my mind I formed a good perspective of the police as positive. (Granted they gave me a lot of tickets for driving and street racing that was my bad.) I'm ALL for cops at schools.
I just thought about something. I personally know some really good looking women that teach the lower level education... They're ALL party girls, if you looked at their facebook 2 years before they decided to pursue a career in education you wouldn't want them ANYWHERE near your child. They've never had to fend for themselves ever and expect everyone to do everything for them. Arming those girls would be absolutely worthless... They wouldn't be able to actually use the firearm to possibly kill a person even if their life was at risk. We need trained professionals. Not slutty teachers.

Now you've got me curious. What do they do?
Now, the National Rifle Association knows that there are millions of qualified active and retired police; active, reserve and retired military; security professionals; certified firefighters and rescue personnel; and an extraordinary corps of patriotic, trained qualified citizens to join with local school officials and police in devising a protection plan for every school.
Now for everyone who didn't watch/read the transcript, but have only read the MSM analysis of the plan, that is the quote from the transcript of the press conference. He wasn't just advocating for extra military/police presence, he included the everyday, trained and responsible citizen. Hopefully to include the willing and able teachers and school staff.
I still don't get the anti- argument. How can you let a teacher loose with a GUN!? What if they snap and shoot a child!
If a teacher was going to do that, they would bring a gun anyway. And if we can trust them with 25 children all year, why exactly can't they be trusted with a gun and those kids? Especially after some *free to the taxpayer* training provided by the NRA?
^^^^^^^This. The bureaucracy is choking the life out of this nation.
The staff at the school is the best option to defend the children in the school. Give the volunteers the training and skills to do so. It will also make them better teachers.
How many instructors here have seen a change in attitude and outlook of a liberal after they have learned first hand that firearms are the best tool for defense and not the evil death causing machine they had always thought?
