If they are your friends steer them toward some training then they'll steer their friends. I'm a fan of training but not more mandatory anything, people need to take responsibility for themselves. Let's stop wrapping laws around our fears.

Absolutely. I am, like other's here an instructor for 15 yrs. In 2 days i have had to recharge my phone a few times, from all the calls i've been getting. I relate this 'rush" to taking a road trip. You don't wait till you run out of gas to fill up. Acting because of the storm clouds over head and expecting a class TODAY is well, not realistic.

FFS. Here we go with mandatory training bullshit again. Now we've evolved to mandatory participation in USPSA/IDPA. Some of you guys are such hypocrites, talking outta both sides of your ass.

On the one side you rant and rave about further restrictions of you 2nd Amend rights and outta the other side you want government mandated training and forcing people to participate in competition.

It's no fucking wonder the liberals think gun people are crazy. It makes my head wanna explode. You know what? When you people get your mandated training and you can't meet the standards for one reason or another and you can no longer carry a gun...fuck you. You got what you asked for.

You either believe the 2nd Amend means what it says or you don't. If you don't believe it says what is says, that's fine. Just don't be a hypocrite about it.

Some times it takes a while for people to "see the light". People's positions on issues evolve over time. I try not to be too harsh just because someone FINALLY comes to the realization that they are responsible for their own safety. Good for them.

    100% agree
i keep hearing people saying a sanity test is in order . well what happens when a disagreement of ideas/ideals becomes considered crazy . at what point do we say to hell with it anyone who wants a gun is crazy .
the only thing i have heard that even sounds reasonable (not really ) is a 4473 for all sales private and public . but then that would mean a registration of each firearm .
none of it sound all that desirable , practical or like a preventive measure for those that chose to commit a crime with a firearm

it bears repeating: "Hi, my house is on fire. Can you come down to Home Depot and help me pick out a fire extinguisher?"

As far as training goes, I encourage people to get as much training as they can, but I think the current training requirement should be dropped. There's nothing that says anyone has to pass a grammar test to exercise their First Amendment rights (luck for some here!), so why should the Second be any different?

As do I on occasion. My brain has perfect spelling and grammar, but my fingers flunked out of 8th grade...

Just thought it should be said.
I think you've already said what really needs to be done. Offer some educated information to them regarding the benefits of carrying with a round in the chamber and the need of a good holster. Suggest some training classes for them. Dont be a know it all ass about it and make them feel more uncomfortable. Future gun owners and people with CCW are what we need. They just need some training and positive direction.
