Default Question on CCW approval (CBI related)

Does anyone know if the same people/office that do the do the 4473 approval for gun purchase also do the CCW approvals? Or more to the point is all the gun purchases going to extend the time to process the CCW applications? My wife put hers in in October and was just wondering if the backlog for firearms was going to push her approval way out or if this is done in a separate office or group of people?

I 'believe' each county has their own investigators(for lack of a better term) that run back ground checks and do finger prints.

The CBI is involved in the CCW process, when you put in your Application, you need 2 MOs,one to the county sheriff and one to the CBI.
    This is a good question.
My T.P. wheeling and dealing feedback is here.

My thought was that the local Sheriff's office did some admin stuff for it but CBI did the investigations? Just not sure if it's a seperate division of office then the 4473 folks. I sure hope it is!

Well by law they have 90 days to finalize. If that means anything or not any more who knows.

Fingerprint background checks are different people from the firearm background checks.

no reason not to run both. do the quickie 4473 one before you waste time on the more detailed one.

I didn't realize that was a law. They sure push the envelope on that. Pretty sure everyone I know that has got one recently went right up to the 90 days if not more?
