Default This might be a stupid question, but

If an AWB did pass, would that include things like the S&W MP 15-22 because it looks like an "assault weapon"? Or would the ban be limited to centerfire rifles only? Sorry if it's a dumb question but I am curious and a google search did nothing for me regarding this.

It all depends on how the "Ban" is written. The way things are going, it will probably include everything that is not a muzzle loader.....

the only rimfire exemption before was for tube mags

The previous one cared about cosmetics, and a 10-22 can be dressed up to fit the description.

I'm pretty sure this is the problem we all have with any and all calibers regarding the AWB.
