    Default why only the ARs?

Seems the ARs are going for sillly money, why not so much the others? I haven't seem any 1000 mini14s. The AKs are a little high, but still not anywhere near what they could be. Same with ammo. 7.62x39 is not too tough to find. 5.56 on the other hand, expensive and tough to find on the shelves.

The thing I have pondered, for years the stigmatic "Assault Rifle" has been the AK platform. It has always been the one to get demonized but now the AR.

Someone up to date on statistics might need to correct me, but is it due to there being more AR's in circulation in this country? Ban AR's = affect more people? For instance, if the push was to ban Steyr Aug's, the impact is fairly low compared to banning the entire AR platform.

ARs have been involved in more US mass shootings lately therefore more airtime = more "deadly"

believe me had an AK been used it would be the Hit item of the day. FS: TAPCO (meets 922) compliance for 3 US parts, $150 each, SPF yep it may not be mentioned but it's in the shit list.

The M16 is the iconic "American assault rifle" that people have seen for the past 20 years. It's also the rifle that has been highlighted and shown for days on end on the television as something that can cause mass damage. The hysteria, plus it's recognition, plus all the old vets who told their grand kids stories about carrying the weapon during their service... Makes it more valuable in peoples minds. After all. People buy stories and dreams. Not objects.
