    Default Gunsmithing

    Puting together a AR15. Bought virgin barrel and drilled (Takeoff) front sight base. Can the FSB and barrel be mated together? Need Gunsmith with experience in this area.

    Videos i saw used new undrilled FSB..Am I out of luck here?

    IIRC you need a fixture to pin a FSB, I am sure Bert can accomodate you. I have not used a FSB in so long my memory is fuzzy wuzzy on it.

    So you need the barrel drilled for FSB taper pins? I don't understand the question, if that's the case they have a jig that allows the smith to drill the barrel so it's straight.

    Yes Sir that`s correct..My question is do you have to start off with an undrilled FSB? And if my FSB can be used does anyone know of a Gunsmith?

    I can do it, I have the fixture for the FSB. Using a take off is iffy, trying to use the same holes and ream them NOT enlarging the taper is usually an exercise in futility. I will tend to use oversize taper pins on a take off.
