So, I have a .308 that I plan on shooting from 100 to 600 yards with. Do I really need a scope base with built in elevation for those distances? Even if I don't need it, will it be a problem if I do use one?
Thanks.

At those distances, no you don't need a 20MOA base. Would it hurt no. would i get one yes. Long range shooting is adicting. After a while 600yds won't seem that far. Then you will be glad you have one.
Dino
will work for:
bullets primers & brass
XTR II 4 x 20 SCR
XTR II 5x25 SCR
XTR II 3x15 SCR
XTR III 5.5x30 SCR
Hawkins Precision
I see they offer them in 15, 20, and 30 MOA. Wold 20 be the best all-around? I can just about guarantee you I would probably never shoot past about 1,000 yards.

I've got an extra you can have. I think you might need to come up with the screws though. PM me your address if you want it, I'll mail it.
If you don't have a base yet there is no reason not to get one with cant built in .
I think a base with 20 moa is about the most you can use with a 1" scope. If you went to 30moa you might not be able to sight in at 100yds. Now if you have a 30mm scope you could probably get away with a 30-40moa base.![]()

It's a 30mm scope. I just ordered a base and some rings. Thanks everyone.![]()
Then your going to need it re crowned, bedded, a new trigger.
I might know somebody.....![]()
