Just a thought, maybe colorado should do away with the CBI checks and let the FFL access NICS like other states do. Look at all the money the state would save.
Then we'd be back at square 1 IF something else happened shooting wise. WE NEED TOUGHER BG CHECKS ON GUN BUYERS is how the CBI became involved last time. I believe that shooter in castle rock was despondent over his separation/divorce and offed the kids.

You are making the assumption that Colorado is alone in this frenzy. Imagine it at the Federal level with all the states who do not have a state run instacheck program that have to go through NICS. What is their delay at right now? The feds aren't as nice as to publicize their progress as has CBI.

I read somewhere in the past that there was a 72 hour limit. If a BG check takes more than 72 hours the FFL is supposed to automatically approve the transaction and transfer ownership. Is this not the case??

Also, is it the case in Colorado that a CCW holder is not subject to the background check? I know in many other states CCW permit holders do not have to go through the background check.

IMHO, guns are not the problem, mental health is the problem.

Did we just go full circle?

I'd imagine the wait would be shorter if they'd just allow those of us with CCW's to by pass the check.

First question: No. It has been discussed in a couple of other similar threads here. BaileyGuns gave some good background on the subject.

Second question: No. It has been debated at the legislature the last two years and never got out of committee.

How about those of us who have already done a background check within the past 30 days. Is it possible to reference that background check for additional purchases?
