Red,White & Blue means Freedom, until its flashing behind you.
Is it me or, do we desperately need a public service announcement about training.... I am thrilled American's are flocking to own guns! It's important and very few things can instill responsibility of their owner, like a firearm, but holy crap! This is still a game of numbers just like anything else, and with this many numbers, the lefties are bound to have more accidents to publicize. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE people, get some training and learn how to always safely handle those new guns you're buying!

I was at a pistol class a few months back along with a very small (100 lbs wet type) of older lady (I won't comment on what "older" means). She had a Beretta 92FS that her husband said was THE gun she needed.
She couldn't rack the slide. He let her try a Glock 19...still couldn't rack it. Finally she could rack a Ruger Mark III .22LR.
He told her to get rid of the 92FS, as iff she ever got into a confrontation, it will eventually be taken from her and used against her.
She argued and stood by her husband's recommendation of keeping the 92FS.
The instructor would not PASS her. He told her to come back when she could demonstrate safe and sufficient operation of the firearm that she would be using...the 92FS.
To me, I think he did the right thing. He wanted to make sure his "graduates" left with what he felt was at least the "basics".
It is not like he was asking her to get 8/10 9's at 10 yards or more.

Sounds like an instructor with some morals. So many of these guys don't realize the tremendous obligation to society they have when teaching neophytes.
We also have the opportunity to be ambassadors of our sport when we see these rookies. Instead of giggling as we walk away, take a second and offer them help and share a little knowledge with them.
Somebody helped you once, didn't they?

The most important thing to be learned from those who demand "Equality For All" is that all are not equal...

I know some older people that own a hunting rifle or two, that have picked up an AR or AK, and ammo to go with it. I know people that grew up with guns that didn't own any because they didn't hunt anymore and were living in a more urban setting, they are buying guns.
Oddly the reason when I asked both sets of folks about why they were deciding to acquire, largely got the same answer. It wasn't that they were afraid of a ban, it didn't have anything to do with home protection or self-defense. It had everything to do with them wanting to have the tools at hand if the country took a bad turn.
Of all of the words and actions of politicians, and all of the fiscal/financial issues and the shit slide we are on...none of that scared me. These people that are worried about a very real possibility of a not so civil action ranging in ages from 25-85, that scares me. They are waiting for something to give, and they just simply want to be prepared if it does.
