A Pueblo Police Officer was shot in the early morning hours on the first day of 2013.Police tell us an officer on patrol in the area of 11th and Greenwood hear what he believed to be gunshots.
While investigating the sounds, they came across a suspicious vehicle that fled
    the area.

A vehicle pursuit ensued and the fleeing vehicle crashed a short time later on Craig.
The people in the car fled the crash and one fired upon an officer as he drove on scene.
The injured officer was transported to Parkview hospital with a gun shot wound. Police say the officer was shot in the shoulder. His injuries are serious but he is in stable condition.
Police are also trying to confirm whether a second officer involved shooting is related to this case.
The second shooting happened near HWY 50 and Elizabeth St. in Pueblo.
Sgt. Eric Gonzales of the Pueblo Police Department confirmed that the suspect in that second shooting has died. They believe that suspect is the same suspect who shot the officer in the first shooting.
Roads are currently blocked near HWY 50 and Elizabeth St. as police continue investigating. The off-ramp on I-25 is closed in both directions.
If anyone has any helpful information they are urged to call the Police Department at (719) 553-2538 immediately.
