F*cking taxes

What a disaster
It's the end of the February and I just now received my 1099 DIVs and B's because I called the brokerage house and *****ed and had them faxed to me. The official ones were mailed out on Feb 15th (of course the law says Jan 31st is last day) but they still aren't here.
Took me all damn day to put them together just to get them into shape to give to the accountant who's going to take another 4 or 5 hours to do it.

So, there's 8 hours of my time (plus)
$500 or so to the accountant

all so the ****ing government can clearly show that they took 40% of my money. They can't just take the ****ing money and move on and leave me alone, no I have to spend yet more money to prove that they got it all.

$39.99 for TurboTax plus the filing fee of about $32.00 for fed and state. I let my accountant go in 99 when I gave up my business and haven't ever needed one for personal taxes.

My paperwork tax pile is over an inch thick, BEFORE he does all the forms.

while we no longer itemize, paying our accountant in the long run pays for itself. and we always have a list of ?? fotr him when we show up. this way we avoid paying on top of that 1 visit.
may actually see some cash back this year.........after XX years of paying out

My guy is independent, out of his house ex army man. He's in Fountain if anyone nearby needs a guy. He is less expensive then H&R or anyone of those other joke places, and knows his stuff. He is easily well worth it over doing it myself. I get 1099's for my contest wins, and I itemize, and I won't go anywhere else.

I think it's complete bull**** though that we are taxed on prize wins. If the life suckers in the government want to tax cash wins fine, but on my contest board at least 1 and sometimes more people a month post that they won a car, but have to sell it to satisfy the taxes.

Who are you using? I've been going to Ray Dirr (Anderson & Dirr), in Longmont, for years and never paid that much. He does my business and personal taxes.

thought buying a house would help, but blah! Sucks, this is the first year we had to pay.
