Well that was really freaking fast, they really are trying to ramrod these bills through as fast as possible.

On a totally unrelated but similar note, I've been having nightmares the last couple of nights that Feinstein's AWB is passed and I am required to register all of my guns as NFA items (my Savage Mark II-FV with Boyds' Rimfire Thumbhole Varminter stock makes it eligible for NFA too , if I understand the definitions of her new AWB correctly). On the flip side, my "good" dreams have been of it being shot down by a vast margin and then Feinstein being held for treason.

eta. It doesn't say if the second bill allows people to keep the current 10+ magazines (which a 30rd AR magazine is NOT high capacity, it is STANDARD capacity) or if they are made illegal to possess, I'm sure no one there wants to find out though.

I doubt this will pass, and if it does I doubt it will be long before it is overturned. Also, do these morons have any idea what that is going to do to small businesses etc. So very glad I don't live there anymore. While I have no clue what happens in Chicago, I do know in the rest of the state there will be more than a few people that won't register anything at all...and will be another law that can't be enforced or will put law enforcement at significant risk if they do.

Yea read one this morning about how all semi-auto rifles and handguns are on the list. How could this not be a infringment on the 2a?

From what I can tell, they are trying to push this through in the lame duck session in hopes of passing a far more restrictive bill than would be considered in the general session. I "think" they have until next week Wednesday to get the bill through the house and the senate (that's a lot of work), otherwise, it gets kicked over until the next year.

I don't see how his could pass. The Governor of Illinois already proposed a less restrictive ban early this year and got put in his place:

Remember, this only made it out of committee; real voting has not started yet. Hopefully someone starts up the filibuster and the bill dies before coming to a vote (at least for the balance of the year).

In a setback for gun-control advocates in the wake of the killings of school children in Connecticut, the Illinois Senate was poised to adjourn Thursday without voting on two pieces of legislation aimed at limiting access to certain kinds of weapons and bullets.
Although the two proposals could emerge again when the legislature reconvenes next week, the lack of action shows the General Assembly remains divided on how to balance Second Amendment issues.
A spokeswoman for Senate President John Cullerton, D-Chicago, offered no timetable for when the gun safety proposals might surface again.
“We will take some time to work on these important issues to advance them in the near future,” Rikeesha Phelon noted in a message to reporters.
One proposal would restrict the possession, delivery, sale and transfer of semiautomatic weapons, including handguns and rifles.
The National Rifle Association lobbied against the measure, saying the ban would take as many as 50 percent of long guns off the market in Illinois. Gun manufacturers also said the proposal could force them to lay off workers.
The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Antonio Munoz, D-Chicago, would allow people who currently own such weapons to keep them as long as they register the firearms with the Illinois State Police.
Sen. Dan Kotowski, D-Park Ridge, sponsored the proposal that would limit ammunition magazines to 10 or fewer rounds.
Gov. Pat Quinn has pushed for a ban on assault-style weapons, but a spokeswoman recently suggested action could come later this spring.

Let's hope you are wrong. Let's hope that this shows us that if they cannot get it passed in a state like IL then it will much harder in the rest of the country.
