12 years for the murder of 2 children is hardly serving your time.

not saying he did or did not do it, but he was handed a sentence by the justice system (however flawed ) and served the time that was given .

jail and prison are two different things . becoming a felon should exempt you from public office .a felon already proved that he/she cant make good choices for themselves so the they should not be making them for others .

He was convicted as an accomplice only because the DA could not prove whether it was him or his partner that actually killed the 2 children. What they could prove is that if he was not the one who actually committed the murders he knowingly drove 2 children to a location where they were going to be murdered in cold blood. While the conviction does not reflect his direct guilt for the murders themselves there is a very likely chance he actually committed the murders.

This man should have been executed for his crimes. 2 children were murdered in cold blood and their families will spend the rest of their lives grieving. Our society thinks he should be forgiven and given the opportunity to hold a position of public trust?? Anyone who thinks this guy should be forgiven should be ashamed of themselves. What if it were your child/cousin/brother/nephew/grandchild/etc that died because of this monsters actions? Would you still feel that he served his time?

I'm 100% with Al on this one. The man was convicted in a court of law, served his sentence, and is trying to put his life back together. Once he has fulfilled his sentence, I'm of the opinion that he has paid his debt to society... For this reason, I feel that he should not be barred from running for office. I for one think he's more than likely still a scumbag, and it would be disgraceful if he were to win, but he should still be allowed to run.
