    Default Propane vs space heaters?

So, our house is ran on propane. The 500 gal tank outside runs our heater (furnace?) and I'm fairly certain the water heater works off it too. It's getting low, and the going rate is $250 per 100 gallons. We've been living there since Oct and have used 20-25%, assuming the gauge on the tank is accurate.
What would you do... spend $250-500 on some gas for the tank, or pick up a couple space heaters to use in the rooms we spend most of our time in?

I'd get as much propane put in the tank as I could afford, space heaters won't run the water heater. Then hit the Goodwill stores looking for space heaters. But they might be scarce this time of year. I scored a beautiful pair of identical electric tower-style heaters at a Salvation Army thrift Store for $5.50 each, they were in like new condition and work great. They'll run you out of the area.

If you're in a rural area and electric power outages are possible or common, you should consider a non-electric alternative, like a kerosene heater. Damn near everything uses electricity somehow, even propane or gas furnaces and fireplaces have electric blowers.

Being cold sucks. I recommend avoiding it.

Our electric bill is $400/ month running the space heaters. To be fair, it was $1500 in propane the last season we used it.

Most propane companies only fill a tank to 80%. Is you 20%-25% figure taking that into account?

I'll bring my puppy over. He can provide you with all the gas you'll need. Just give him some antibiotics. Rotten little bastard.. the smell will let you know if he's leaking.
