Default Dave Grossman on Glenn Beck tonight.

Don't know if any of you watch but tonight's show has an intense interview with Dave Grossman, author of On Killing and On Combat.

Guy has an extensive background in military physchology and human aggression. He made some excellent points about the state of our society and the increase in what's happening.

First and foremost he refused to refer to these as "shootings" call them what they are massacres. We need to take back the word shooter as many of us are shooters.

He talked about the conditioned response taught to soldiers, starting back in WWII and how the military turned to man shaped targets rather then a bullseye to condition them into not thinking about it as a person. He did draw the connection video games and media.

He pointed out that the first reported student violence in a school wasn't until 1970 when a student killed a principle and teacher. So why in 500 years or armed combat, 150 years of repeating fire weapons are we now seeing the uptick in young people in committing violent acts.

He laid out some compelling facts about society as a whole. I find myself wanting to read both his books now.

If you have Dish Network the network is on 212. Great show tonight.

Bet he didn't mention psychotropic drugs like Prozak, which most of them were on.

I've read Dr. Grossman's books and they are a very good read. I also have his audio lecture; "Bullet Proof Mind" which is just astounding. It is an old lecture that still holds tons of merrit even today. Huge respect for Dave Grossman.

I saw Grossman speak and he can definitely keep your attention- HU-raa! I'd like to have the opportunity again. He also talked a little about dreams where your gun doesn't take down the bad guy, which was brought up on this forum a few days ago.

I read an exerpt of that once and the cure was simple...more trigger time and training. Once I started hitting the range once a month I noticed the dreams were less common and when they did occur I was experiencing "real time" movement and reaction.

Lt Colonel Grossman is a pretty cool dude. Met him a few times over the years. Very steady.

I've read his books several times and was fortunate enough to attend one of his lectures in 2012, very solid gentleman. I haven't seen the Glenn Beck segment, but one point he made in his seminar that I haven't seen mentioned is the fire vs gun argument in schools.

Basics are that in I forget how many decades, we haven't lost a single child to a school fire, because the materials of the building, down to the desks and chairs are designed to be flame retardant, and each child and their teachers are drilled in fire excape and taught not to fear the possibility or sight of fire. He said that if we were to do the same thing for murders in our schools, such as instruct teachers in the proper use of firearms, and to teach children how to be comfortable in the sight of a firearm in the hands of a responsible adult, while also drilling responses like a fire drill, the casualty numbers from these killings would be much lower.

I'm glad to see Glenn picked him up to weigh in on all this, he is by far one of the foremost experts on the subject.

He did cover the fire vs. school violence angle. Pretty powerful stuff.
