I don't think ignorance is something to brag about or count on.

Not to say the US isn't the greatest, best country in the world right now, but trying to whitewash bad things that have been done in the past (or hey, are currently being done - Obamacare anyone?) is counterproductive.

America doesn't need a ministry of propaganda to make it's case for it, an honest look at its history does plenty for us. Not like we have to hide anything to look good in the aggregate.

America is a Continent, not a Country. By definition, Mexicans (as well as Canadians, Brazilians, Nicaraguans, etc.) are all "American."

Advice on going to Mexico: if you have family, stay with them, they know where is relatively safe and not.

If not, stick to the touristy spots. The cartels and the govt both know that shit going down there is no bueno, and there's not a lot of shit going down there most times.

Eat at the holes in the wall, best food I've ever eaten.

Shark fin soup is awesome, and I believe still illegal here in the states. Grab some and chow down.
