It's a shame he lived. But having him die in the house may have been more traumatic for her. Now she's saddled with biohazard cleanup costs. She should sue him if he lives, or his next of kin if he dies to recoup the costs.
She is lucky to live in the South . . . if this revolver was gifted to or inherited by her without proper licensure and registration, and this occurred in NY, NJ, IL or DC, she'd probably be on her way to prison right now.

I don't know if we have any doctors here, but I have a doc friend who works down in VA that's dealt with plenty of GSW in the past I could ask if you guys really want to know.
