i for one really like being able to drive down the roads freely . i also like the fact that i can get my kids to a doc if need be . it just sends shivers down my spine when people want to take away our rights , want to do their neighbors harm instead of preparing . i just feel like people on all sides are gearing up for scary instead of trying to find ways to prevent it . why not talk to the fire department and work on a plan encase the lights go out ? wouldn't it be better to work with local goverment to help establish and or preserve ? the media and most social networking sites are not helping socity work together but insted creating an every men for himself environment . why not work with churches and local groups to help with clothing and food .
all im saying is the recent events have really opened my eyes to a harsh reality that no one , not the gov , not you , not me , not one person is really prepared for a disaster of this magnitude .

Civil wars are NOT romantic. Civil wars are the bloodiest, most vicious ones in history. The very prospect of a civil war should horrify you (and yes, I think the "new society" types count on that to bring fence-sitters over on their side to some extent). We should be THEM be the ones proposing it and alluding to it -- in fact, I think the analogs between the "Occupy" protests and civil unrest elsewhere in the world were a major part of why the general public didn't support the "Occupy" movement.

It's not that people would run around like some zombie movie shooting people. If things got to that point, I could see whole states declaring separating from the Union. Much like the Civil War. In that case they would be asking for BYOG volunteers. Just my wild guess of the worst case scenario.

The United States has been in the "fish bowl" for to long, we are the only Country that hasn't experienced Civil unrest.. Look at the rest of the world.. Once the MB has taken over the Middle East, it will be at our door if its not already here.. What if the "Occupy" movement decided to take up arms or the Black Panthers?

A war on the American people has already begun, Waco, Randy Weaver and who knows how many more.. How many shootings/shoot outs are on the news where its a "bad guy"? DO you really know if that person was a criminal or just that's whats reported? If we don't take action to keep new laws from being passed, we can and will be those "criminals" on the news..

In the 1860s Civil War, 2% of the US population died (about 620,000 people).

If the same percentage of the US population were to die in a modern Civil War you'd be looking at SIX AND A QUARTER MILLION dead people (2% of 311,591,917=6,231,838.34).

Considering we have better weapons now, even with better medical care I bet that number would go up.

Someday war may become a necessity, but its going to come at a TREMENDOUS cost (not just in lives and treasure, but the chances of us coming out the other side as a free, constitutional republic are pretty doggone slim).
