Just a question. What about "open" carry of an empty holster? Maybe a symbolic protest of sorts. Wife had her knee replaced and goes home tomorrow, trying to get a "sitter" so I can make it.

Interesting, I carried all over the state capitol grounds (outside) a while back, no issue. No warning signs during one of the Denver events in the civic center parks. I read the law as "schools" and any "building" access with metal detectors etc at the entrances.
all this "gun free zone" BS is turning me off. I went to the last loosely organized one and my CCW was on board, Me and some others got some uncomfortable stares from CSP. I really hate that #1 the state and city are attempting a BS temporary and frankly illegal gun free zone, #2 I hate the bullying the PDs are engaging in here. #3 I hate that the organizers are bowing to it. I dont think I can get down with this any longer, I will have my young sons with me and I'll be damned if I am going to a fish in a barrel zone with my boys.

I can't agree any more with these points. First off- we're fighting for our 2nd Amendment rights, yet we curtail them because of one false statement? I read the whole unfolding of events on FB today from the first post about not bringing guns (the organizer got false information from a CSP officer) because it was illegal, to the correction and their "request" that people not show up armed. I understand that they don't want guns there in case someone does something stupid. Totally get that, but wouldn't it be even less likely if there were 50-70% of the attendees legally exercising their right to concealed carry? Stevel said it perfectly well, just because a few LEOs don't want a mass of armed individuals around doesn't excuse them going around the state law on legal carry. Wouldn't it also be more beneficial to our cause and message if we showed we can assemble peacefully while armed? That would fly right in the face of the anti's bullshit argument that more guns = more crimes. I refuse to disarm simply because these organizers want to be spineless cowards and if that makes me not welcome, fine, I'll observe and support from across the street or something...

Didn't know this was going to be held at Civic Center Park. I'll probably park in one of the areas Irving posted. What should our meetup spot be? I see quite a few of us will be parking by Auraria. Maybe we could meet by the Starbucks on the SW Corner of Kalamath and Colfax at like 11:30.
