Lets throw in the straight front axle argument that for some unexplained reason hasn't came up. The Chevy/GMC has a weak IFS front end.
I really love my cushy weak IFS since 99% of the miles on my trucks are on road.

I am a true chevy fanboy. new truck every 1-2 years. I don't have a need for a diesel, although I want one anyways. what keeps me from having one is garage space. I am not really partial to which dealer I work with...I get the best deal no matter where I go. the only thing that matters is if I trade in or sell outright.
I do love the looks of the ford 250 and 350. interiors are what get me though. while it seems like more plastic in the chevy, the interior in much much better and more comfortable. I don't want to sit on a rock for hours on end while heading out hunting or going in the mountains or pulling the atvs...no thanks.
Don't really have an opinion on dodge, but I would take a chevy over a ford over a dodge.
just be ready to get raped when you get your new truck. plan on $1k or a bit more for title/registration.
Ford changed their front suspension in 05 to coil over springs, similar to what Dodge has. The ride was awesome in my 06. I loved everything about that truck except for the payment. I only had one issue with the 6.0 and that was hydraulic leakdown and that was fixed under warranty. I changed my oil and fuel filters regularly and ran a fuel additive. That's not to say I wouldn't have had egr, fuel injector, or head gasket problems down the road. Bulletproof diesel and some other companies are making aftermarket egr and oil cooler kits that are taking away some of the issues with the engine. Mine was awesome towing and the transmission was kick ass.
With that said, as far as the "looks" department goes, that Dodge crewcab shortbed is a sexy beast. Since I have a chance to help "spend your money" buy a Dodge.![]()
My dads 12 valve dodge is rusty but has 300k on one motor towing every day on a ranch, my 24 valve 6 speed dodge has 225k still going strong. I blew the head gasket in my truck at just shy of 40 lbs boost and have replaced the tranny but that was on me for not catching a slow leak that just ruined the tranny. New trucks are a different class of beast from the late 90s early 2000s
