All I got to worry about is the crap drifting over in the wind from Los Alamos.
You forgot the fallout...

Hey, I learned LONG AGO that duck and cover would save my sorry arse. Apparently those 50's-60's elementary school desks were substantial!!! Never mind that an entire wall of the classroom was made of glass. And not the kind that crumbles into harmless nuggets.
Then, in the USCG in the '70's, I learned in my NBC Warfare classes with the USN, that stabbing myself in the thigh with a tiny device, and taking a shower, in addition to tucking my pants into my socks, would save me from the ravages of Nuclear, chemical, and biological threats. And now they think I'll be afraid of zombies, seriously?
Looks like I've moved outside the radius of the Fed Center. Bring on the apocalypse.

At least you guys never had to eat anything that was growing in Europe during Tchernobyl's fallout....

What is going to kill the most people is radionuclides, when you eat it, drink it or breath it in. The time frame is from 1 day to 40 years. The explosion does a lot of immediate damage, but the fallout will kill long after the blast. If you survive the initial blast effects, you will need a good gas mask and a way to escape the area. If it was a neutron bomb and you are near the blast, you will probably die that week. To survive after the explosion, you need a gas mask, a geiger counter & sealed food and water sources. Then you have to move to a non radioactive location. I don't think there is a safe place in Colorado. We have too many command centers and nuclear missiles in silos. The weather will spread the fallout everywhere. Best evacuation bet is a non-nuclear state south of the border.

Didn't very few people actually die from Chernobyl?
"There are no finger prints under water."
I don't know why you guys are worried. Everyone knows that it won't be nukes that hit Colorado. We'll be invaded by Russian Mexicano Cubans who will parachute into our small towns to seize our 4473 forms.
