In the unlikely event that a real deal wild wolf is roaming around within the city limits, looking at this link says it is endangered. http://wildlife.state.co.us/Wildlife...edSpecies.aspx

So other than "it's coming right at us" probably going to be a legal nightmare if shot.

Anyone know what the city/county says about feral dogs and property damage? I would hope that is straightforward, but just don't know.

As there are no knowing wolves in Colorado, it was a coyote and you should have shot it to save the animals and children. Then an autopsy determines if it is a hybrid coyote. Or you an save the money and just bury it like everyone else.

There is a wolf rescue/breeder or similar near Divide (30ish miles west of Colo Spgs), it is not inconceivable that one escaped. Always wanted to stop in and see the critters, but the outfit is anti-hunting. But surely if there was an escape it would be big local news, and the animal would never head for Calhan

Didn't think about hybrids, that's a good point.

Call the Boulder police. They'll take care of it.

Eastern Coyotes of the type that killed a girl that was out hiking in Canada a year or two ago are almost as big as a wolf.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009...-attack-canada

Eastern Coyotes have interbred with Canadian Grey wolves..
