So there I was, taking my class from a former Spec Ops veteran of both WWII and Vietnam (surprisingly agile for an old guy) and getting my NRA Pistol Instructor Certification (which passed 100% on both exams, yay me!), when another elderly, balding man wearing some sort of "Expert, 1911 600M" patch on his jacket walks into the classroom at Ben Lomond Gun Club. Our training counselor introduces him as none other than Karl Lippard. For those that don't know, Mr. Lippard (pronounced "Leopard") is the man behind the game-changing of the 1911 and modern firearms. He explained it in such a language that as a person who doesn't know about every single minute detail and inner workings of a firearm, it went over my head. But he holds several patents on his firearms technology, several more patents pending, and makes his 1911's with the "toughest metal you can make a gun out of" -his words. He and 3 others are the only people I've ever heard of to have 3/7 (he had I believe 4/6 on 12" steel plate) or more hits on target at 600 meters, open sight, with his 1911. Sometime in the near future, I'll have to look it up, he'll be featured on the Outdoor channel doing just that along with my training counselor, who also accomplished this feat.
For the low-low price of just $3,500 you too can own the best 1911 ever made- the Lippard 1911A2 NCO! Forget Nighthawk, Dan Wesson, Wilson Combat, etc... these truly are a work of art! The trigger, I shit you not, is the smoothest pull I've ever experienced. Quite the gun!
